Interactions with fandom

At the 2004 Stargate Convention, Michael and fellow SG-1 actor Christopher Judge (who plays Teal'c) were asked their opinion on Jack/Daniel slash. Both actors were good-natured about the subject, with Michael summarizing:

For those of you not in the know, there's a subculture- [audience laughs and claps] Or maybe there's a lot of you that are in the know, I'm not sure. There's a subculture of what seem to be our fans that are devoted to seeing the subliminal nature of the Jack and Daniel relationship.[2]

In 2006, at the TT20 convention, Michael related a story of a fan who had proudly showed him photomanips of the characters "in various compromising positions", which he did not enjoy.[3]
