This [Every Time You Leave] is unquestionably my favorite Snarry. The angst is glorious, the dialogue and interaction dazzling. The slow, aching tension builds and builds, and the longing that leaks off the page will make your heart bleed. This is what I read Snarry for, at the height of its potential.– EmptyWordHP aka. This [Rapture] was written for the 2009 Snarry Games; it took the honor of the 99th post, second to last, and it brought the Games to an extraordinary end. This fic also usurps "Every Time You Leave" as the best Snarry I've ever read. Mia_Ugly's prose is so very suited for the tension-infused angst and star-crossed romance of Snarry; her writing is melodic and ethereal in its unhurried indulgence of every scene, magnifying brief snapshots of images that change mere words on the screen into a living, churning emotional supernova. Beyond the haunting writing style, this story is clever with a Time Travel plot that throws the reader from scene to scene, past to future (and back again), slowly drawing the threads together into what seems an inevitable knot, while managing it all lucidly. Deft, sweet, and heart-wrenching, "Rapture" is so believable it offers a new interpretation to Deathly Hallows. Times like these, I wish I were more eloquent, but truly? No words could do this fanfiction justice. And when you're done, head straight for the story's epilogue, "Blood (but also roses)," a magnificent love story in its own right, matching "Rapture" stroke for stroke– EmptyWordHP aka. EmptyWord [2]
Anything written by Mia Ugly should be read, simply for the intensity of emotion. Her style is stunningly evocative, and when she makes up her mind to write a pairing, she weaves a story of such unforgettable human beauty, she makes you fall in love as well. This one [Worse Things] is a painfully tender love story and a delicate character study all at once– EmptyWordHP aka. EmptyWord [2]
This is a fic I’m sure I don’t need to recommend because surely everyone has read it by now. But if not, what are you waiting for?!??! [...]Tumblr rec for Slow Show by goodomensficrecommendations, March 2020
This is fantastic, great writing and pitch perfect dialogue. The mix of deep love and self loathing Ed keeps pinballing between its very in character, and Stede being uncertain but also decisive about what he wants is great. Incredible, show-stopping, amazing. I love it. Thank you for your words!Antilocapra AO3 comment on "we were warnings," 2022
