About

Megurine Luka is a Japanese Vocaloid, a human avatar of a digital vocal synthesizer. She was originally going to be named "Hatsune Miku", but the name was given to a different Vocaloid. The idea of Luka was to be a bilingual vocal synthesizer with two voicebanks, English and Japanese. Her voice was recorded in both Japanese and English. Luka is the third release in Crypton's Character Vocal Series for the Vocaloid2 Engine.

Her voice was provided by Yū Asakawa.

The name Luka invokes the Japanese homonyms "nagare" (流, flow) and "ka" (歌, song) or "ka" (香, scent). Her surname combines Meguri (巡, circulate or around) and Ne (音, sound). Thus, her name means: "songs to all around the world as scent spreads."

Her character item is a tuna, but the character Takoluka is also popular in the fandom.

Fanworks

Due to the lack of any official source text for Vocaloid fandom, all of the media in it are fan works. Popular songs featuring Megurine Luka include the following:

Shipping

Megurine Luka tends to be shipped with other Vocaloids. Popular ships include Megurine Luka/Hatsune Miku, Megurine Luka/Kamui Gakupo, and Megurine Luka/Kagamine Rin. Reader inserts are also very popular, especially on Wattpad and Deviantart.
