Officially, I started writing DS9 fanfic back in 1994, which was when I got on line and discovered what the heck fanfic was. However, I wrote what was technically bandslash all the way back in 1973 and followed that up later in the 70s with Star Wars and Blakes 7 fic rife with Mary Sues.... While I love to read angst I was christened the Schmoop Queen back in DS9 fandom and that's what I tend to write. I enjoy romance and seduction in all its forms so, yay Team Romance!
I love banter and sarcasm so Rodney McKay and McShep are tailor-made for me. Plus, I adore Rodney, period. Which isn't to say that I don't like the other characters, because I do. I actually started out preferring John, while Rodney took time to grow on me. As for the fandom, I've really only dipped my toes into it so far, because it is a big and daunting place!
