Malcolm Bright is the main character in Prodigal Son (TV series). He is the son of a serial killer known as The Surgeon, Martin Whitly, and works for the NYPD as a consultant forensic profiler.

There is a substantial amount of gen fanworks in this fandom, often looking at Malcolm's relationships with his friends and family. When Malcolm is paired with a character, the het pairing of Malcolm Bright/Dani Powell is most common. Other pairings include the slash pairing Gil Arroyo/Malcolm Bright, and the incestuous and often very dark father/son pairing of Malcolm Bright/Martin Whitly.
Malcolm Bright/Edrisa Tanaka is a relatively rarepair despite fandom love for both characters and their interactions together.

- Hurt/Comfort is a very common trope in Malcolm centric fics. Malcolm has canonically suffered psychological abuse at the hands of his father, and often places himself in danger in his role as an NYPD consultant. So many of these works are canon divergent or episode tags.

- Sub!Malcolm:in explicit fics involving BDSM, Malcolm is almost always depicted as a Sub, with the remainder of fics portraying him as a Switch. Pretty much no one in fandom can picture Malcolm as a Dom. It's possible that BDSM is represented more in this fandom than others because in canon, Malcolm sleeps in restraints to keep from hurting himself during a night terror.
