Makorra is a popular pairing of Mako and Korra from The Legend of Korra.

Canon

Mako and Korra were officially a couple during parts of books 1 and 2. Despite a brief awkward period following their breakup, the two remained close friends and allies.

Fandom

Much of the initial popularity of the pairing was due to the perceived similarities with the non-canonical Zutara pairing from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

On December 17th, 2014, the day before the Legend of Korra series finale, Tumblr user avataraskorra posted:

we poppin the BIGGEST bottles when makorra happens tomorrow

This post and the phrase we poppin the BIGGEST bottles has since become a meme, due to the series ending with Korrasami becoming canon instead.
