A Love-Hate Relationship is a situation in which a person harbours intense and alternating feelings of love and hate for another person. Such internal conflict can occur within the context of romantic relationships or affection, but can also occur in interpersonal relationships involving family, friends, or co-workers. It can also be used to describe parasocial relationships with celebrities or fictional characters, or attitudes toward inanimate objects, concepts, or works of fiction.
This is a popular trope in both canon and fanon, particularly in romance works featuring enemies to lovers, slow burn, or hatesex.
