lotrart is a Livejournal community for The Lord of the Rings fanart.
It was started by karabou in January 2003. It was inspired by the Harry Potter community hpart and borrowed its newly implemented closed membership policy and rules on uniform posts, WIPs, and respectfulness.[1] lotrart later added an additional rule against "one-line comments" and requiring thoughtful feedback.[2]
There were over 280 entries posted to the community with over 1,600 comments.[3]
Approximately the first month of posts are organized by artist in the community memories.[4] The memories contain 65 posts by 24 artists, including Anyasy, Nasubionna, and Glockgal.

This is a sister site to wonderful community hpart, which features Harry Potter fanart! It was started by the lovely andrush, and I would like to thank her for the idea of making this community, the rules (which I copied from that community because they make so much sense), and just being a very cool girl. <3
