From "Preview to the N.Y. Star Trek Conventions '75":

In New York during the months of January and February there will be two S.T. conventions as opposed to only one last year. The reason for this is that the committee chairman for last year's convention, Al Schuster, was kicked out of the committee by the rest of the committee. The rest of the committee elected a new chairman and started plans for a February Star Trek Convention. Then, all of a sudden, poor little Al Schuster pops up with his own International Star Trek Convention.

Well, well, well...now you don't know which one to go to. We can't recommend one, but if you can, go to both (if you are a real Trekker, you have to go to at least one.

V.2 N.2

Keep On Trekkin' v.2 n.2 was published in March 1975 and contains 4 pages.

front page of v.2 n.2
  • Review and Comparison The N.Y.S.T. Cons! by Steven Kossoff, two con reports, see Star Trek Lives! and International Star Trek Convention for details. ("Surviving through one Star Trek Convention is highly unlikely, surviving two in a row is nearly impossible! There were two cons this year, and I went to both and somehow lived to write about them. Both cons were quite successful, but in my opinion, "The Star Trek Convention" outdid Al Schuster's "International Star Trek Convention" considerably. There were many things that were different between the two cons, but two things prevailed over both; the overcrowded conditions and the appearance of Issac Asimov, Hal Clement, Jeff Maynard (The Andromeda Light Show), and William Shatner.") (1)
  • From the President, welcome to new readers, changes to the zine due to poll results (no one liked the comic column, and the fantasy news wasn't popular) (2)
  • K.O.T. Teletype (news of Trek cons, also a listing for "Star Trek Lives on WHBI (105.9 FM) every Wednesday night 1:30-2:00 AM") (2)
  • an order form for Star-Fleet Uniforms (shirts only) sold by Bill Hickey in Dresher, PA. (basic uniforms are $16.50, insignia and braids are extra)
  • Hailing Frequencies: "Is Roddenberry Selling Out?", part two, article by George Alvarez (about Star Trek: Animated, commercialization, and David Gerrold) (3)
  • Letter from Joanna Cantor, reply from Steven Kossoff, the above article (4)
  • Trivia Contest, game about how to "make Saurian Brandy"

V.2 N.3

Keep On Trekkin' v.2 n.3 was published in May 1975 and contains 4 pages.

The editor apologizes:

First of all, I would like to apologize for the lateness, the rotten photos, and the numerous typos that plagued our last issue. By the way, that was Bill Shatner on the cover of last issue.

  • The Star Trek War!, by George Alvarez ("There is a war going on. A war between the T.V. establishment (the bad guys) and the viewing public (the good guys)." (1)
  • Classified Ads (2)
  • KOT Teletype (movie news) (2)
  • From the President (a plea for readers to step up and start LOOT Chapters: "Don't be scared by the idea that there's a penalty of sorts if you take the job and it does not work out, you can resign if you feel you can't cope and there will be no penalty or hard feelings." Also, "LOOT is endevoring [sic] to produce a one-shot fanzine entitled "Kling On Trekkin'", a parody of our newsletter (and there is a lot to kid about!") (3)
  • Hailing Frequencies: "Star Trek: The Perfect Show", article by George Alvarez (3)
  • Trivia Contest (not really a trivia contest, but asks for art from members. "Drawings cannot be returned. MEMBERS ONLY!") (4)
  • two short fan letters (4)
  • Fantasy Corner: The Lord of the Rings by Prof. J.R.R. Tolkien, continued from v.2 n.1, article by Steve Lavinsky (4)

From "KOT Teletype":

Even if you've heard it before (and if you haven't, you're in for a treat) it bears repeating... THE MOVIE IS ON - STAR TREK LIVES AGAIN!!! The contract has been signed! It is planned to be released in the spring of '76 and it v/ill feature the original stars in their original roles as well as well as at least 10 International celebrities. This much is certain! The budget will be in the area of ten million, dollars! All the sets will be rebuilt, and they will probably use the MagiCam process for exteriors. The movie is being written, by Gene Roddenberry and may serve as a pilot for a possible TV series.

Whether all the stars return, to their former roles will depend whether they wish to. And yes, there is a chance that Nimoy might not want to recreate the Spock role, but this has not been confirmed yet.

V.2 N.4

Keep On Trekkin' v.2 n.4 was published in July 1975 and contains 4 pages.

front page of v.2 n.4, the art is by Jack Martin and was the winner of the contest in the previous issue
  • A Report on Vul-Con II by Matthew Marcel (1)
  • The Aliens from Star Trek, art by Jack Martin, contest winner (1)
  • KOT Teletype, info about the Star Trek movie, includes a letter from Roddenberry that includes: Roddenberry also stated that the movie planned to use "ten or so film 'name stars' in guest and cameo roles, but this will not diminish the role or the importance of the original STAR TREK television actors." - The letter ends with: "Yes, it lives!": (2)
  • blurbs about Philadelphia International Star Trek Convention and the 1975 Star Trek Lives! (2)
  • several very short letters (3)
  • Trektest, a word find by Russell G. Thompson (3)
  • Hailing Frequencies: "Space, the Final Frontier", essay by George Alvarez about humanity and space (4)

From KOT Teletype:

[It is] "definitely on. Gene Roddenberry is at this time writing the script (the nature of which is not known, and will not be revealed for some time) and he will be producing it himself as well. In a relatively resent letter (March 26, 1975) Gene wrote '...to dispel the flurry of potentially harmful rumors..."concerning the upcoming film, he discussed several important facts, including the old cast. It went like this: Paramount has agreed that we should attempt to obtain all of the original cast. Negotiations are underway.' All of the original television actors have expressed an interest in playing their original roles, subject to normal and expected professional considerations such as handling of their role in the script, salary, availability, and other reasonable career considerations." "No other actor is being discussed or has even been considered to replace Shatner, Nimoy, or any other of the television cast members.
