Kate/Maggie is a canon femslash pairing of Kate Kane and Maggie Sawyer in the DC Comics fandom.

Canon

The two of them met at a dance and hit it off right away. They eventually started dating and got engaged. Maggie often plays a similar role to Kate's Batwoman persona as Jim Gordon does to Batman.

Fandom

The pairing is fairly rare and generally less loved than Kate's previous relationship with Renee Montoya.

Controversy

During the New 52 in 2013, controversy arose around the pairing due to DC's then-in force "anti marriage" policy that broke up several pre-established (usually het) marriages and prevented new marriages between characters to be depicted, for fear of "aging" the characters too much (to which fandom reacted with the DC Marriage Week). DC was accused of homophobia for forbidding J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman, the writers of the Batwoman comic, to let Kate and Maggie marry. The creative team left the title to protest the decision. [1] [2]
