Jurgen Leitner is a recurring character in The Magnus Archives. He is described as a portly man with blond hair that was beginning to grey (MAG 35).He is a Norwegian-born recluse, well-known in rare book collector circles in the 1990s. Leitner is best known for his library of occult books, all of which are identifiable via the interior bookplate that reads "From The Library of Jurgen Leitner".[1]

Within the The Magnus Archives Fandom, Jurgen Leitner is the focus of two very popular memes. The first centers around an Anti-Jurgen Leitner rant posted to a TMA Discord. Tumblr useroctopodian posted a dramatic reading of the posts which caused the rant to go viral.[2] The second meme, "Extended Sounds of Brutal Pipe Murder", is a reference to Leitner's murder by Elias Bouchard in MAG 80.
