Summaries
In 2000, two fans Cassie Ingaben and Dagger compiled an index of many of the circuit stories. They also wrote brief summaries: "Dagger: Doyle's been trying without much success to go it alone with a broken arm and the other hand damaged while Bodie's off on another op. Bodie returns finding Doyle worse for the wear, and in need of some TLC, which he gladly provides."
Madrigal's summary: "Doyle has injured both arms while Bodie is away on assignment but he cancels his trip home to stay with family and goes back to his own flat, determined to manage by himself. Unfortunately, he finds it a little more difficult than he thought to manage even the simplest tasks - until Bodie comes to the rescue."[1]
Reactions/Reviews

I love the way this story works out - lots of lovely comfort, which is my favourite kind of story.[2]
1988
"Journey's End". I felt this was in character for both, and it was a treat to read since it portrayed B & D with sensitivity.[3]
"Journey's End" is one of my favorite hurt/comfort stories in this fandom (there are too few of this type of story, and I wish writers would produce more of them, as opposed to get-ems), and there is also the added bonus that it is a sensitive little romance.[4]
"Injured Innocents" and "Journey's End" must also be noted as stories that are rewarding, satisfying, and with no loose ends. Different P.O.V.'s, different problems dealt with, all recommended to new fans who ask where they should start with so many to choose from. [5]

Saved by the romance and all-over sweetness, but is about twice as long as it needed to be. [6]
1992
One hurt/comfort story I read that really did work for me was one in which Doyle had broken his forearm and his wrist and had been alone in his flat, on sick leave, for over a week, with both hands effectively useless and no one to help - Bodie's away in the north of England on an assignment. Then Bodie turns up with a week's leave, and Doyle practically falls into his arms, he's so pleased to see him. Now that was a story in which the hurt was proportional to the comfort - and a very sweet nice story it was too. (I like sweet sometimes. And nice.) [7]

Favourite Hurt/Comfort: what a question, its like asking 'what is your favourite story.' It depends on what I have just read. I've just reread a lot of the B/D that I have lying around the place. To me h/c does not come from physical hurt caused by one partner on the other. There is a story (I've forgotten the name) wherein Doyle has both arms out of action (on in a cast and one in a sling I think) he struggles along for a few days but is just so thankful/grateful/relieved when Bodie comes back from an assignment to 'care' for him until the arms are better - I think this is a slash story but I cannot really remember, its the reactions of Bodie and Doyle to Doyle being hurt in such a way as to make everything so impossible that I remember. Yes, I do enjoy the 'hurt so bad he should be dead but is alive, well and fit 2 hours later' ones, but my favourites tend to be 'head cold, 'measles' 'broken leg' - everyday things that could happen to each and every one of us. 2009
I'm looking for a story with this unique plot twist: Doyle apprehends a villain Cowley is particularly eager to nab. 4.5 accomplishes his assignment by falling off a roof on top of the miscreant. I find this a most amusing premise. The bit about falling on the criminal is explained early in the explication, and the rest of the tale concerns Ray coping with his resultant injuries, if I recall correctly. [9]
