Reactions and Reviews

I have to say that the one thing I really enjoy about this author‘s stories is that she always manages to put a twist on each one. You just never know when you turn the page exactly what is going to happen next. Not that she ever leaves one confused as to where her stories are going, it‘s just that she often leads the reader on a rather winding path in order to get there.

This story is no exception. The beginning is typical enough – Kirk has decided he wants a physical relationship with Spock and while Spock finds the thought very tempting, he finds himself suffering the Vulcan version of 'cold feet'. After the disaster that was his 'marriage' to T‘Pring, he can‘t quite bring himself to trust something like that won‘t happen again, even with Kirk. Yet while he and Kirk are in negotiations with a race known as the Tevaran – negotiations which are not going well at all – one night of unexpected passion throws all his intentions of resisting Kirk‘s advances completely awry and worse, while he can recall exactly what he did and to whom, he is at a complete loss as to why. Ever the scientist, he soon discovers the reason, but as far as Kirk is concerned, it makes little difference. He is convinced that regardless of why, Spock‘s words and actions that night proved he wanted Kirk as much as Kirk wanted him, still, Kirk soon discovers that Spock needs something more. But he soon realizes that it is up to him to figure out what that 'something' is if his relationship with Spock is going to consist of more than one night of passion. How he makes that discovery and more importantly, when he makes it, is another unexpected twist that makes this author‘s stories so enjoyable.

Another refreshing, interesting, thoroughly enjoyable K/S story from this author that is guaranteed to keep you on your toes. [1]

If you think this is just a "Kirk-and-Spock-on-another-boring-diplomatic-mission" story you have another think coming. This story gave me fire-in-the-belly, scoring high with me because of the scorching love scene smack dab in the middle of it. A no-holds-barred affair that shot lightning into me and took my breath away. Despite what Spock thought it lacked, it went all the way with me. I admit I'm a slut for this kind of exclusive intimacy and lovemaking. But there was also the superior writing, great spot-on characterizations and so many imaginative special effects I was oohing and aahing all the way through.

Sure, Jim and Spock were on a diplomatic mission but a very unique one and on a planet whose descriptions were scrumptious! Such rich special effects that some of them gave me a headache, much like Spock got. There was also a cleverly presented plot that never disappointed my senses and spirit. It was all interesting to the point of driving me nuts.(OK, I heard that!). I was drenched in "colorful special effects" and loved every minute of it.

I'm not telling the plot details because of the obvious, have the pleasure of figuring it out for yourselves. It's not a cop-out, you'll find it delicious and all the ends are tied up with a big orange/pink bow. Please don't miss this story in a zine full of mysterious, intriguing stories. [2]
