Jennifer's Body is a comedy horror film starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried. It follows Jennifer, a popular high schooler who becomes demonically possessed and begins killing her male classmates, and best friend Needy who is trying to stop her killing spree.

The film was originally marketed toward young men, with much of its focus being on Megan Fox's sex appeal, despite the film itself not reflecting this. Its inability of connect with the right audience upon release cause it to bomb at the box office and it wasn't until several years later did it gain the status of being a cult classic as more people other than young men watched it.[1]

Fandom

Upon release Jennifer's Body had a small fandom but was not widely talked about outside of some horror and femslash circles due to the mixed marketing it received. As the film gained cult classic status the fandom expanded and there was a significant uptick in fanworks created for it starting around the tenth anniversary of the film's release in 2019.

There tends to me more fanworks shared online in the run-up to Halloween, as is the case with many other horror fandoms.

It has a friendly fandom connection with Yellowjackets thanks to sharing similar themes of cannibalism and toxic female friendships, as well Jennifer's Body's director, Karyn Kusama, having also worked on Yellowjackets and including several direct references to the film within the show.

Pairings

The fandom's shipping scene is near exclusively femslash focused, with Jennifer and Needy being the most popular ship. There is also a small amount of Jennifer/Reader.
