Jason Todd & Damian Wayne refers to the familial relationship between Jason Todd and Damian Wayne, two members of the Batfamily in Batman media.

Background

  • Jason Todd was the second Robin and the adopted son of Bruce "Batman" Wayne, later becoming the antihero Red Hood after his murder and resurrection. Damian Wayne, the fifth Robin, is the biological son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul.
  • Though they share the same father, they do not have a typical brotherly relationship, having been raised apart. After meeting, their relationship had a rough start. As the vengeful Red Hood, Jason made enemies with the entire Batfamily.
  • In the Batman Inc. arc, Batman noted that the Jason and Damian "worked together instinctively as a team" under their temporary identities Wingman and Red Bird.
  • Since the Batman Inc. arc and the New 52 reboot of the Post-Crisis continuity, Jason has suddenly improved his relationship with the Batfamily, Damian included. Still, Jason and Damian have tended to be on rather tense terms in the comics.
  • Batfamily fans have noted a number of commonalities between Jason and Damian: both are sons of Bruce Wayne, both have been Robin, both are connected to Talia al Ghul, both were trained by the League of Assassins, and both have a high kill count compared to the rest of the Batfamily.
  • According to writer Judd Winick, who reintroduced Jason Todd as the villainous Red Hood, his concept of Jason Todd would be somewhat fond of Damian, compared to the rest of Batman's allies.

Other versions

  • In DCeased: Unkillables, Damian Wayne hugs Jason Todd and Rose Wilson, enthusiastically congratulating them on their marriage.
  • Young Justice: Outsiders, the third season of the animated series Young Justice, reveals the existences of Talia's newborn infant and a masked "Red Hooded Ninja"—universally agreed by fans to be Damian and Jason, respectively—both living in the custody of the al Ghul family.
  • In one ending of the 2020 interactive movie Batman: Death in the Family, Talia al Ghul entrusts an infant Damian to be raised by Jason, who secretly plans to use Damian as an instrument to destroy his parents.

Fanon and tropes

"Baby Damian woke up and chose violence" by leendraws (28 July 2021)
  • He Likes to Be Tall - As the tallest and smallest of Bruce Wayne's children, a common fan art subject depicts Damian using Jason as his personal perch.
  • Jason Todd and Damian Wayne Meet in the League of Assassins - Jason Todd and Damian Wayne Meet in the League of Assassins is a fairly popular type of AU in which the two meet and bond during their time in Talia's care. Talia often raises the two as brothers. Since Young Justice: Outsiders (2019) revealed both an amnesiac Red Hooded Ninja and an infant Damian to be living with the al Ghul family, it's been popular fanon that Jason has become attached and protective to Damian.
Incredible. Steph never thought she would see the day when Damian actually seemed fond of anybody. Of course that person had to be catatonic zombie whose knee jerk reactions all seem to be related to violence, but baby steps.

  • Dead Robins Club - Because Damian legitimately died in the main comics series, he is considered a full member of the fan-designated Dead Robins Club along with Stephanie and Jason. Together, they may be less commonly referred to as the Bad Robins or the Trifecta of Trouble due to their reputations for being defective child sidekicks.

  • "Ensemble Performance"AO3 by lowflyingfruit (2017-02-13) - Damian has a deep, dark secret he needs kept from Grayson, his father, and most of all Drake, at all costs: he has, quite unwillingly, been volunteered for a part in his school's annual musical. As a grouchy dinosaur. This is now Jason's problem. Or his blackmail opportunity. Whichever.
