Iwaizumi Hajime is a character from the sports anime Haikyuu.
Canon
Iwaizumi Hajime is the vice-captain of the Aoba Johsai volleyball team, where he wears the number 4 as the team's ace. He is best friends with Oikawa Tooru and has good relationships with the rest of his teammates.
Post-timeskip, Iwaizumi works as an athletic trainer with the Japanese National Volleyball Team.

Pairings
The most common pairing for Iwaizumi is IwaOi. Iwaizumi and Oikawa are canonically childhood friends, shown in flashbacks together as elementary school students, and call each other by nicknames. (Oikawa calls Iwaizumi Iwa-chan, while Iwaizumi calls him "Shittykawa" and similar pejoratives.) Iwaizumi tends to take care of Oikawa, prompting Oikawa to ask "Iwa-chan, are you my mom?" in episode 19 of the anime.
All other pairings for Iwaizumi are much rarer than IwaOi, but after the timeskip showed Iwaizumi and Ushijima reconnecting in California, IwaUshi became slightly more popular (with more than 70% of all fic for that pairing being written after those chapters were released.) Iwaizumi/Sawamura Daichi and Iwaizumi/Sugawara Koushi are also rare but existing pairs for Iwaizumi. Poly ships involving both Oikawa and Iwaizumi also exist.
