A retelling of Cinderella, with Iphicles recast in the title role. The story's told with a stark simplicity to reflect Iphicles' innocence, an innocence that's really at the story's core. The wicked characters don't recognize it, or use it to their advantage, while Ares is irresistibly drawn to it, so that when he approaches Iphicles, it's less with the intent of corrupting him, than of losing himself in it, burying himself in it. It's got an almost perverse first-time feel, because Iphicles is so childlike, but it's hard not to be drawn in by the ensuing intensity of his reaction to Ares' seduction. [1]
