Inappropriate Use of the Force is a common trope in Star Wars or Star Wars AU shipfics in which one or more characters is a Jedi, Sith, or otherwise Force-sensitive. It is usually found in NSFW fanworks, with characters using their powers to seduce or arouse their partner(s).
This trope is especially popular in BDSM or kink fics, with Force Choking and breathplay being the most common applications. Fics may be considered dubcon if the "Jedi Mind Trick" or other mental coercion is involved.
The term arose as a popular tag on Archive of Our Own, with over two thousand fanworks currently listed. [1] However, the trope predates the foundation of the Archive in 2009.
