Help talk:Character pages
Help, how are RPS characters handled? There is nothing in the page except the subhead. --msilverstar 05:17, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- That is what is being decided over here. Consensus seems to be a combined people/character page, but what to do about templates and categories I have no idea.--æthel 12:15, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Was the "reworded RPF" change intended to revert all changes made in that section today, or was it accidental?--æthel 04:39, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
- Assuming it was an editing glitch, I merged edits.--æthel 05:29, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
- I'm baffled, I just meant to change "why they are fannish" to "why they are of interest to fandom". Oops? --msilverstar 07:00, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
- Maybe you had an older version of the page open? Or the wiki hiccupped? These things happen.--æthel 15:03, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Disambiguation
I don't think Gwen or any Merlin character page is a good example for disambiguation because these pages disambiguate by something that needs disambiguation itself. Not a good solution. --Doro 16:35, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- I changed the example and added a note. Do you think that the naming of Merlin character pages should be changed or just that they're not good examples?--æthel 16:49, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Character category pages
I note the help categories page asks editors not to create categories except for fandoms. Is it ok to start new categories for characters in fandoms with multiple characters, such as the Buffyverse & LotR? It would make it easier to see at a glance which characters needed pages. Espresso Addict 15:22, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, it's fine to create character and other subcategories under fandom categories. --æþel 15:36, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- Excellent, thanks for the speedy response. I notice you've edited the help page to state "add the character pages only to Category:FANDOM Characters and not to the parent category" -- isn't the category characters added automatically by the character template? Espresso Addict 18:07, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, we, uh, usually treat the fandom category hierarchy separately when we say not to include parent categories, since we don't have fandom-specific templates. So some pages will have both "Stargate SG-1 Archives" and "Archives" or "Harry Potter Characters" and "Characters". I edited the help page to clarify, but let me know if it needs more work....--æþel 23:12, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
