Help:IFD Fanlore Challenge
The IFD Challenge is a week-long Fanlore Challenge run annually as part of the OTW's celebration of International Fanworks Day. It is open to new and experienced editors, and everyone is encouraged to participate!
This year, the challenge is running from 10 – 16 February, with a different editing task to complete each day (plus a bonus task). Every time you complete that day's challenge and/or the bonus task will be awarded a shiny badge — one badge per day around the day of that challenge task.
If you're new to editing Fanlore, we have lots of guidance and resources to help you get started!
- Visit our New Visitor Portal to get started
- Read our tutorial or visit our Discord server for advice on how to edit pages
- Or jump into using the editing cheatsheet.

How to participate
To participate in the challenge, copy and paste the challenge tracker template onto your user page. Adding this to your user page will allow Fanlore volunteers to check for participation and award you badges.

You can do this by adding the following wiki markdown:
{{IFD Challenge 2025
|day-1=
|day-2=
|day-3=
|day-4=
|day-5=
|day-6=
|day-7=
}}
Every time you complete a challenge, simply edit this template to add a link to your relevant edit after the equals sign. We also recommend you add “IFD Challenge” to your edit summaries, to help us spot qualifying edits.
How to display badges
You’ll be awarded badges for your edits by a Fanlore volunteer, who will add the badges you’ve earned to your User Talk page with a message congratulating you.
You can display these by copying the file source from your User Talk page and pasting it into the source your user page, or by adding an image in the visual editor and searching the file name as it appears in the source code for your User Talk page. The source code should look something like this:
[[File:2025 IFD Challenge Badge 1.png|200px]]
See Help:Images for more information about formatting images on your User page!
