Definition

HBIC is an acronym for Head Bitch In Charge. In fandom, the term is usually used in an affectionate or joking manner, and "bitch" is meant in the street language sense of "strong, kick-ass woman". [There are probably some people who object to calling female characters "bitches." Examples?]

A poll to determine "Who Is The Ultimate HBIC?"[1] caused some stir when American Idol's Adam Lambert won. Some participants felt that his victory was an example of fannish misogyny in action. (Head Bitch in Charge had been a common nickname for Lambert in AI fandom for some time, meaning many fans already associated him with the phrase.)

Canon Example

Professional wrestler Victoria was billed as this as part of her cheerleader gimmick in Ultimate Professional Wrestling.
