The Green Hornet is a superhero originally created for a 1936 radio program of the same name. The character later featured in various films, comic book series, and television.

The Green Hornet is the alter ego of newspaper publisher Britt Reid. His partner is Kato (who was played by Bruce Lee in the 1960s Green Hornet TV series). Britt/Kato is the most common ship overall for Green Hornet fanfiction. Britt is also shipped with his secretary Lenore Case.

The radio program is set in the same universe as The Lone Ranger, which was created for the same radio station. Britt Reid is canonically the great-nephew of the Lone Ranger. There is also a canonical crossover with the TV series and the 1960s Batman TV series.
