Gotham TikTok, GothamTok or Gotham FYP are names for a TikTok POV trend in which fans create videos as if they are citizens of Gotham City in the DC Universe, posting TikToks as original characters in the style of story-times or commentary videos discussing goings-on in Gotham, as well as Batman, Bruce Wayne, the Batfamily and other characters from the DCU as if they were real celebrities. Similar to the Omegaverse TikTok trend, commenters on videos will regularly continue the pretence that the TikToks are real, reacting as if they were also part of the DC universe.

Similar to bystander fic, Gotham TikTok videos often comedically highlight how unusual life in Gotham would be compared to that of the average person, or use dramatic irony to comedic effect by exploring the ways in which a bystander might understand (or misunderstand) canon events and characters without the same information the viewer presumably knows about the DC universe.

Trend

The trend began in February 2024, when @red_finch posted a TikTok, Archived version with the caption "POV: You found Gotham's Snapchat Stories", in which they complain about having to buy bottled water because of the Joker poisoning the water supply. This inspired a TikTok, Archived version by @frosties4lyfe in March 2024, talking as though they were a Gotham city planner and describing their experience with a Metropolis transplant who wanted to put invasive plants in his garden (not realising that this would anger Poison Ivy). Other fans soon began to create similar videos, with a number of videos going viral in March 2024.

Often, TikToks are told as story-time videos where creators will share anecdotes of meeting members of the Batfamily or their run-ins with Batman villains. Other fans have posted about Gotham's high crime rates, or roleplay an inter-city rivalry between Gotham and Clark Kent's home city Metropolis.

The trend has had widespread popularity and positive feedback. Fans on other platforms such as Tumblr and Twitter have shared their enjoyment at the trend.
