Excerpts

When did you start writing x-files fan fic?

I actually started writing x-files fan fic sometime during the first season. I think it might have been near Christmas, when they started putting on specials and reruns (like they always do) and I got bored, so I made up my own stories. I have about three or four of them, but they would require so much rewrite that I'm not even going to try to post them.

What is your inspiration in writing these stories?

Of course, the show gives a great deal of inspiration. I like writing in a 'known' universe, for an audience that understands the parameters of that universe. It means less background is required. Beyond that, my own experience in government is one inspiration. My love of sci fi is another. My favorite source of X file material is _World of Strange Phenonmena_ by Charles Berlitz. It's chock full of weirdness, to use Frohike's word. My story "Massacre" comes from one of those tales. And I love reading other authors and either doing the story differently or continuing the thread (with permission).

Would you ever let Mulder and Scully become involved in your stories?

I am a moderate relationshipper (and an ex politican). I have let them be involved, gotten married in one (Aftermath), and have babies. In one story I am still finishing, Mulder and Scully have 4 grown children, two of which have joined the FBI. I love playing with this idea in fan fic, but I would hesitate to go that far with the show.

What do you do when you get that dreadful thing called "Writer's Block"?

Read. I love reading the newsgroup. The archives is excellent. Often times, after I've read everything there, I will go back and reread some of my favorite stories like 'Abductee', Corpse, the Generations Series, Dilemma, to name a few.

Is there anything you'd like to tell the readers? (Tell all!)

Tell all, huh? I'm an 'experienced' X Phile, quickly approaching 40. I am married, have been for 17 1/2 years to a man who accepts my obesessions even when he considers them gross and disgusting (my hubby couldn't watch 2Shy--his asthma kicked up after the first murder). I have 6 children, ages 15, 14, 12, 9, 4 and T minus 8 weeks and counting. Two of the kids like the X files, two watch TGIF and the younger one drifts between the two rooms.
