Ginny Big Bang was a 2010 Big Bang challenge whose goal was to "give Ginny the best Valentine's Day ever by encouraging more Ginny-centric fic and art for everyone to enjoy." Submitted fanworks were posted on February 14, 2010.[1]
It produced three stories and a single fanart; one participant described it as "tiny, warm Big Bang."[2]
Rules
Ginny Big Bang accepted fanworks with all pairings and ratings as long as they featured Ginny Weasley as a central character. It did not allow RPF or fics with underage sex. Fics were required to be a minimum of 20,000 words. However, a submission did not need to be a novella, but could instead be a collection of one-shots that were somehow related to each other.
All fanworks were required to be created specifically for the Ginny Big Bang, and were not to be posted elsewhere until after March 15, 2010.[3]
Timeline
The following timeline was used for the challenge:[4]
- July 15, 2009: Preliminary sign-ups for authors opened. Sign-ups for betas and artists opened.
- August 15, 2009: Preliminary sign-ups closed.
- November 23, 2009: Official sign-ups for authors opened. Beta and artist sign-ups closed.
- November 30, 2009: Official sign ups closed.
- December 7, 2009: Artist assignments sent out.
- January 31, 2010: Final drafts and artwork due.
- February 14, 2010: Posting began.
- March 15, 2010: End of the exclusivity period.
Submissions
Three stories were submitted, totaling approximately 60,000 words. rumpelsnorcack also participated in the challenge, but the mods were unable to post her story due to "technical difficulties."[5]
