The FemSlash Advent & Solstice Calendars were multi-fandom femslash challenge calendars run every Winter and Summer from 2004 to 2017. It was founded by Shatterpath and AJ Stormwriter at ShatterStorm Productions as a sister challenge to the Slash Advent Calendar
After the success of the December 2004 Advent Calendar, Shatterpath and AJ Stormwriter decided to do two calendars per year, one during winter solstice and one during summer solstice. From 2005, there was the Dog Days of Summer calendar and the Dead of Winter calendar. The last challenge was Dead of Winter 2017, but the website remains live as of October 2023.
Rules
The rules varied on some points over the year (such as minimum length of fics, file size for fan art and fan vids, the dates of each step of the calendar), but some were present for most years, such as:
- Works to not be posted anywhere else before the challenge revealed the works.
- Defaulting on a submission meant the individual could not participate in future events at ShatterStorm.
- The focus of works was to be femslash
- No bestiality, RPF, incest or underage (rated over PG) works submitted.
- All ratings were acceptable but triggers and squicks to be noted.
