Need to Document the Procedure once a page is Marked for Deletion

Given the discussion over at Talk:You Can Run Away With Me Anytime You Want... and repeated removal of the Template:DeletionProposed flag there, I've been looking into the help docs for our deletion policy, and I think there's a big gap in explaining the procedure once the flag is added to a page. Some questions I have:

  1. should Template:ProposeDeletion remain on the page in question until a decision is reached?
  2. How can users tell when a decision has been reached?
  3. Can non-Gardeners remove the template at all? As in, if the discussion becomes closed with a consensus to keep the page, should ordinary users wait for Gardeners to remove the flag, or can they take the initiative themselves?

I do think the answer to the first question at least is clearly yes, but that's not currently stated anywhere that I can find. And the latter two should be addressed, even if they need some discussion first -- I'm not even sure if there *is* an answer to the second question currently, but I think there should be. -- Quaelegit (talk) 10:26, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
