fandom.ink is a pan-fandom Mastodon instance, one of the first to be formed in the wake of the Tumblr NSFW Content Purge. It was founded and is run by a single admin, alis.

The community's About page describes it as follows:

Inspired by the Great Tumblr Exodus of 2018, fandom.ink is a small instance designed for lovers of fanfic, fan art, fan meta/acafandom, fannish communities, and blorbos of all kinds.

fandom.ink is intended to be a fun, pleasant, and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.[1]

The server has an application process for new accounts, along with a guide to help people complete it successfully. However, new account creation is currently turned off except for by invitation from an existing fandom.ink user, due to the surge of fans relocating from Twitter.

Policies

fandom.ink permits adult and erotic content as long as it is clearly marked and warned-for, with the exception of adult avatars and profile banners, which must be all-ages.[1] However, erotic content on the instance is expected to be primarily of a fannish nature. In addition, depictions of actual sex acts are not permitted on public timelines (but linking to this content, e.g. as a rec, is allowed with appropriate warnings).

Uncut spoilers without appropriate warnings are not permitted in public timelines (the server Code of Conduct does not specify what is considered a spoiler).

On 2nd July 2024, mod alis updated the instance rules to specify that posting and engaging with AI-generated content is against fandom.ink's Code of Conduct:

I’m pretty sure we now know to exactly which glossy, hollow, slurry-filled content hell this is taking us. But that doesn’t mean I have to be dragged there quietly. And neither do you; don’t post this shit, don’t engage with it (except to block and report it) and fellow fedi admins in particular I’d encourage you to consider similar zero-tolerance policies on your own servers.[2]
