Faceless Ayato is a creepypasta video series originally posted to TikTok in November 2022 by user vanya2010upoloklove which features the Genshin Impact characters Kamisato Ayato and Diona Kätzlein. vanya2010upoloklove's original video features gameplay of a version of Genshin Impact downloaded from an "unknown website" where the user, playing Diona Kätzlein, encounters the faceless Kamisato Ayato on the statue of Barbatos in the courtyard of Mondstadt's cathedral. The original video quickly became a trend among the Genshin Impact TikTok community. Beyond TikTok, it became known as the "Faceless Ayato meme" or "Faceless Ayato Creepypasta."
Following their first TikTok, vanya2010upoloklove uploaded 11 more installments in the series which has grown to feature other characters including Arataki Itto, Yae Miko, Kamisato Ayaka, and Raiden Shogun.

vanya2010upoloklove's uploads sparked a small following. Faceless Ayato has been featured in additional videos from other users, as well as TikToks, fanart, fanfiction, and other spin-off works. Fans have expanded on the concept of a glitched character by creating art, fic, and headcanons of supposed glitched characters that other fans, unrelated to the original poster, have encountered.
He is sometimes inserted into the "creepypasta universe" in both art and fanfiction. In August 2023, many Genshin fans started shipping Faceless Ayato with "Item Destroyer Kaveh," after a glitch made Kaveh delete objects forever in co-op mode.
