The Exploding Deku Nut was a Legend of Zelda website that was online circa 2002 to 2012.[1] Although originally preserved in an archived form after creator Darth Citrus stopped updating in 2012, it is offline as of 2018.

Content

Award given from EDN to The North Castle website in 2009

Like other Zelda websites at the time, the Exploding Deku Nut hosted fanworks, contained information about contemporary Zelda games; and fostered an active community of fans through the forum. The site also ran the comic "Accidentally Linked" by C.Dsilva. Other unique content included fan essays. Ones with a more humorous spin than others were collected in section called "A Somewhat Serious Article"[2]; some of these were hosted on the popular Zelda site Zelda Blog. Archaic Sage, the webmaster of Rauru's Return wrote essays with a more scholarly bend in section "The Deku University"[3]

Over the course of its existence, Exploding Deku Nut has had in excess of 10 meticulously and detailed layouts developed solely by the Webmaster, Darth Citrus. A new layout leading EDN into a new direction was revealed on February 15th, 2010. This new direction was revealed to be going back to EDN's main vision, focusing on satire, creativity, and comic-mischief. New additions to the site include a small view of EDN's Citrus Cam, where Darth plays and reviews games live with the community, and Digital Zelda, where submitted content is drawn, painted, or digitally produced by community members.
