- Commits acts of fannishness and acts of whimsical crack, often at the same time.
- Comprised of equal parts caffeine, whimsy and snark.
- Is probably described by others as "that oddball who does the animal POV stories."
- Is actually okay with that.
- In the event of her ever inheriting--or otherwise acquiring--a tortoise, will almost definitely call it 'Pebble'. [1]
Writing style
umbrella half describes etcetera-cat’s writing style in ds_profiles: "A lot of E-C’s work tends to the lyrical – it’s full of really lovely images and description. It’s very much show rather than tell; building up a picture of what’s going on through little brushstrokes. The end result is not only satisfying in terms of narrative, it’s also really beautiful." [2]
Notable Works
due South
- Fluid (Fraser/Kowalski, PG) This is a lovely little snippet. Half poem, half fic, all Ray and all awesome. Try reading it aloud, it sounds amazing.
- An Ocean of Sky (Fraser/Kowalski, PG) This is wing!fic, and it works so well, and so beautifully – it’s a classic dS blend of magical realism and human emotion and problems.
- Aurora Borealis (Fraser/Kowalski, PG) Knowing Dief, clueless Ray, clueless Fraser. Best. Combination. Ever. The use of repetition in this gives it a song-like rhythm and just underscores the cluelessness of the boys.
- Learn to Speak Canine in Seven Easy Steps In which Diefenbaker doesn't understand the complications of humans, Fraser takes exception to Dief's attempts at matchmaking, Ray is oblivious right up until he isn't, and the turtle says 'lettuce.'
