Estinien Wyrmblood is a character in Final Fantasy XIV. First appearing in the Dragoon questline in A Realm Reborn, he became a recurring character from Heavensward onward and joined the Scions of the Seventh Dawn in late Shadowbringers.

Fandom

Due to Estinien's canonical connection and eventual fusion with Niddhog, it's not uncommon to see him retain draconic features in fanworks, such as scales, horns or (in the case of smut) dragon-like genitals.

In a 2020 NHK poll, Estinien was voted the 42th most popular character in the Final Fantasy franchise.

Shipping

Estinien stands out among most other characters in that he is involved in the only NPC/NPC ship in the top 10 relationship tags on AO3 as of November 2021. Aymeric de Borel/Estinien Wyrmblood is slightly more common than Warrior of Light/Estinien Wyrmblood, making him an exception in a fandom where WoL-shipping usually reigns supreme. He is also featured in several other NPC/NPC ships. Another such exception is Urianger Augurelt.

Alphinaud Leveilleur/Estinien Wyrmblood is controversial in the fandom due to its age gap and the fact that some fans see Alphinaud as underage even in later parts of canon.
