Empires is a rock band from Chicago, Il. They formed in 2007, after guitarist Tom Conrad was kicked out of The Academy Is... and returned to Chicago. The other current members of the band are Sean Van Vleet (vocals, lyrics), Max Steger (music, guitars), Mike Robinson (drums). Bassist is a rotating position most often as of 2012 filled by Julio Tavarez. Tom Conrad is well known for being a werewolf.

Band History

Until 2013, Empires were an independent band who produced and distributed their own music. In 2013, they signed to Chop Shop/Universal and went to Texas to record an LP with producer John Congleton [1]. Before 2013, Empires recorded in guitarist Max Steger's basement in his parents' house in Chicagoland.

Songs

The lyrics to the songs are written by Sean, who once said, "I write all my songs, or most of my songs, about the band. [...] 'Hello Lover' is about Max. 'Hell's Heroes' is about Tom."[2]
