The Emo Trinity is a fannish nickname on Tumblr and other social media sites for MCR, Panic! at the Disco, and Fall Out Boy. These bands and their fandoms are also some of the main members of Bandom. Sometimes fans include Twenty One Pilots, so it becomes the Emo Quartet.

The bands' Trinity classification comes from their importance to 2000s and beyond Emo culture, not strict adherence to Emo music genre. The original three bands have also widely varied in style over time, so older Panic! and FOB may be considered emo while later works are not. The latter addition, Twenty One Pilots, is added because of its importance to Bandom and not because it is truly emo genre.

The term Emo is a cultural and musical label that represents many differing things. As a genre, it is a rock music genre with an emphasis on emotional expression It is particularly influenced by punk rock. The wider Emo culture includes fashion, art, and a general emotional attitude. A person can be "emo" meaning emotional, mopey, or expressive.

Debate over Usage of Term

The concept of the Trinity has been hotly debated. Some argue it makes sense as a category for bands important to Emo culture, originally in the 2000s and later in the 2010s.
