From the Editorial

Time for something different... Thanks to high flights of fantasy (and to Amber who started it all), this issue presents the first selection of Han/Luke stories with a twist that propels them from the fable we all know and love right into different universes. Some stories branch off from the storyline of the trilogy, while others take the leap into other worlds and eras...

I was amazed by the writers' boundless imagination, and I'm once again glad to present the work of new contributors to this fandom. I think I can guarantee that some of these creative people will keep coming back to Han and Luke. I'm particularly thrilled and grateful to include an unpublished piece of art by Jean Kluge in this issue -- much too beautiful to remain unseen.

Enough said. Let me know what you think. The next Elusive Lover will take Luke and Han back to their own familiar universe (and that issue's still open to contributions, too...), but there might be more alternates somewhere down the line. All depending on your feedback and interest, so -- get in touch.

[Consort of a Jedi]: High on the list [of my favorites]: "Consort of a Jedi" from _Elusive Lover: Alternate Visions_ zine. Han got caught in the Hoth cave-in, rescued and interrogated by Vader, then, after the duel on Bespin, trained to be the perfect consort for the future Emperor Skywalker. Now, the guys are having lots of angst over this conditioning, and whether having strong emotions actually means falling to the Darkside. [1]

[Dream for Me]: High on the list [of my favorites]...: "Dream for me" by ZP Florian in _Elusive Lover: Alternate Visions_ (AU Han/Luke. Han is still Imperial, but just out of a work camp and running floor polishers on the Death Star. Luke is strung out on interrogation drugs, and establishes a telepathic relationship. He asks Han to daydream about their life together so he can have someplace to escape being tortured. Very similar to a story in of of the Hot Blood series of books) Favorite line: "Baby, I love you," he told the ship. Get us out of here and I'll love you forever." [2]
