Canon
El and Max's relationship starts off negatively, with El expressing jealousy and Max's interactions with Mike Wheeler in season two. She comes upon them while they're in the school gymnasium, and using her telekinesis, knocks Max off of her skateboard.
In season three they begin to see each other as friends, doing typical coming of age activities such as visiting the mall, and having sleepovers.
