El'Endu'il is the first Professionals Doyle-as-an-elf story. It is by Marilyn W. (aka Cory) with original plot help by Felicity M. Parkinson.
It was likely on the circuit for a short time, but also printed in a zine in 1983.
In 1990, Felicity M. Parkinson wrote:
I'm writing the fourth (and final) part to El'endu'il at the moment. The basic plot outline was though up by the original writer and myself some six years ago. She's never going to get round to writing the story and so has given me permission to do so. It won't be finished for some considerable time, but it will eventually end up on the circuit. [1]
The story has various spellings in fandom: Elenduil, Elendu'il and El'enduil.
In the 1994 US Circuit Library index the story is listed in parts:

The First Pros Elf Story
"Elendu'il was the first elf story -- no-one before that had thought of Doyle in connection with elves, and at the time it made quite an impact. In fact, one fan wrote and asked Marilyn if she would allow her to use the character of Elendu'il in a straight (adult) story she wanted to write. Marilyn said no, because she wanted to continue writing about the character herself (and did)." [3]
Reactions and Reviews
- A fan writes: "After reading the first EL'ENDU'IL, I went berserk over the idea of Doyle- in-elf-ears and begged, pleaded and bribed all my friends to have a go at a story." She then lists the Pros circuit story, "Descent to Humanity," as the "very best elf story ever written." [4]
