This story is an A/U of the Comes a Horseman/Revelation 6:8 story arc, with lots of Kronos, little Cassandra, and power games including much sex and violence. The authors used a "Nobel Methos" interpretation of the events to turn aired canon into a story of self-sacrifice, and then mucked with things a bit more to increase the intensity, producing tons of angst as the net result. The plot is pretty much the same as was shown on-air, but in the details, it is different. For example, Mac and Methos are lovers when the story starts, and that adds an aura of poignancy to all of their interactions in the story, a sense of something lost that can never be found. On the craft level, I thought the blend between the two writing styles was seamless--always tough in a collaboration--and each writer's personal style supported the other without any visible conflict. I loved that the story was long, emotionally over-the-top, and thematically intense. On the whole, I thought it held together well, but it¹s not for the faint of heart.
