Donald "Ducky" Mallard is a NCIS main character and is the team's medical examiner.
Canon
In addition to performing autopsies on the victims, Ducky composes a psychological profile on any potential suspects or criminals that the team encounter, having graduated after taking a forensic psychology course. He also often treats the bodies of victims more personal then some, referring to them as "guests" and talking to them.
His current assistant is James "Jimmy" Palmer who became the permanent replacement for Ducky's previous assistant, Gerald Jackson resigned.
He often calls the characters by their first name, calling Gibbs "Jethro", Kate "Caitlin", and Abby "Abigail". The only exception is Jimmy who he often refers to as "Mr. Palmer".
