Reactions and Reviews

This story contains some great lines, not the least being the one about "hot juices". No, it's NOT what it sounds like... [1]

One of the best stories in the zine. This is an alternate universe where Kirk and Gary Mitchell are in the Manthus Union and Spock is in the enemy Xulkha Empire. Actually this doesn't have too much importance, except as a plot device to have Kirk and Gary be lovers. Spock becomes part of their group when all three are trapped on a planet together. Since I hate to give plots away, I'll just say this story is good because it has a long long buildup before Kirk and Spock attempt a relationship. It's well written. There are some wonderful bits of dialogue. The story is enjoyable, and perhaps will have a sequel someday. [2]

I enjoyed every minute of this slow, leisurely story. It was never rushed and contained interesting elements throughout of the trials and tribulations of trying to survive on an alien, sometimes hostile planet. Spock's enduring patience, especially after being hurt by Kirk's rejection was touching. I was glad to see that the two didn't rush into a sexual relationship which made it even more tender and special when the big moment finally came. The awkwardness and inexperience on Spock's part seemed just right for the character The final sentence makes me wish for a sequel -- I find myself wondering whose ship it was and how their life will change once they find themselves back in the real world. [3]

Kirk and Gary Mitchell, lovers in this alternate universe tale, are stranded on an uninhabited planet after a disastrous battle with the Xulkhans. After adventures in love and wilderness survival, they find there has been at least one other survivor - the Xulkhan Spock. When Gary is killed by a local carnivore, Kirk is mad with grief and takes it out on his remaining companion until eventually (and inevitably) the castaways find solace with one another. [4]
