Fandom
The ship gained traction in 2011 after the release of Assassin's Creed: Revelations, wherein Clay and Desmond interact while both trapped in a computer simulation. Revelations was the first game to give Clay a name and face; previously he was only known as "Subject 16" and appeared only as audio snippets or briefly as a computerized shadow person. Despite this, some fans were shipping the characters together even before the release of Revelations.[1][2][3]

- Guardian Angel/Wings - Based on the dialogue where Desmond calls Clay "my guardian angel." Clay snippishly replies "There’s no such thing" and vanishes into the system, ending the conversation.
- Angst/Tragedy: One fan said "I'm beginning to think happy Clay/Des fic is a myth, because I certainly can't seem to find any. I just want to read about my otp and not have my heart ripped out and stomped on for once."[4]

so today when i was sitting in class I was talking about ac revelations with a friend of mine and he said he though Clay was a p cool dude.
and he said he thought Clay was hard-core gay for Desmond and that there was way too much sexual tension between them and he half expected them to kiss. And he wanted them to.[5]
also i forgot clay/desmond is a Thing clay comes off as kinda gay for desmond in revelations tbh[6]
