Daenerys Targaryen/Drogo is the het pairing of Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo in the A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones fandoms. They have a canonical relationship.

As their relationship grew, he let his guard down. He was tender toward her, he was protective of her. When her life was threatened he stood against Viserys. He thanked Jorah for saving Dany from being poisoned. He defended her against a bloodrider, which is closer than any family to the Dothrakikhaleesi-in-the-north

At the beginning of the series Daenerys is sold into marriage to Khal Drogo by her brother Viserys. Their marriage is strained in the beginning, but over time they come to love one another. Daenerys become pregnant. When Viserys threatens Daenerys Drogo kills him. Khal Drogo is injured and eventually falls gravely ill. Daenerys begs the assistance of the witch Mirri Maz Duur. Mirri performs magic that saves Drogo's life, but takes the life of Daenerys' child. Although Drogo lives he is in a vegetative state. Daenerys kills Drogo to end his pain and suffering.

Common Tropes in Fanworks

  • Modern AU: modern setting, where they know or meet other characters
  • Non-con or Dub-con: because of the early characterization of Daenerys and Drogo's relationship
  • Canon Divergence AU: varies, but usually includes Daenerys' son living, or the the child being a girl
  • Drogo lives: Drogo does not die and how that changes Daenerys' story
  • Side Pairing: sometimes a featured secondary pairing

  • Rape: Some fans were unhappy with changes the show made that portrayed Drogo and Daenerys' first sex scene as a rape, where as in the book Drogo had sought Daenerys content.[3]
