Reactions and Reviews
1990
I loved the tone of this and the 'story-telling' style. It made me want to read it out loud to somebody. Excellent, well-placed humor. The ending, however, didn't fit at all. To suddenly have dialogue, and rushed dialogue at that (i.e., Kirk and Spock were moving way too quickly), made the last part disjointed from the rest of the narrative. I think it would have worked just fine if this story had ended in the same style that it began. [1]
2000
The author explains these events take place in Diane Duane’s “Spock’s World” universe. Prompted me to pull out my copy and realize I’ve never read it. It lightly follows Kirk as he discovers, with the unrecognized assistance of a “helpful” computer, how perfect he and Spock are for each other. Nice touch how the computer gets Spock to Kirk’s room and then the door malfunctions, trapping them inside. As if they needed any help! [2]
