ChengXian is the portmanteau relationship name for Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian of the Chinese danmei novel Mo Dao Zu Shi and its many adaptations. Jiang Cheng is the adopted/martial brother of Wei Wuxian, the protagonist of the novel.
While the smushname ChengXian often refers to the romantic slash pairing, ChengXian hashtags may also be used on Tumblr or Twitter for headcanons on how the two mend their relationship post-canon.

Based on Archive of Our Own tag counts, ChengXian is the most popular Jiang Cheng ship in the Chinese-language fandom[note 1].
English Fandom
ChengXian is a controversial relationship in the English-speaking fandom. Critics of the ship say that the two are canonically raised as brothers, so it is an incest ship. ChengXian shippers may face backlash for "pro-shipping" and “being open to the thought of incest." Reactions to ChengXian shippers, by other MDZS fans, may even escalate to bullying, harassment, and being “cancelled” on social media platforms like Twitter.[citation needed]
Meanwhile, others point out that the two are merely martial brothers and aren't legally or biologically bound as siblings, therefore making it pseudo-incest and OK to ship.
On the other extreme, considering ChengXian as an incest ship is why some English-speaking fans enjoy it.[citation needed]
