Tolkien Zines vs. Lord of the Rings Zines?

The difference between the two categories doesn't make sense to me, could we just merge them? There aren't that many entry pages but wow, over 200 images. Maybe we could put those on a different page? --msilverstar 09:11, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

To get to the next 200 items just click "next 200". I've added CategoryTOC for easier navigation. This category has 277 members which is quite big already. The way it's structured, Tolkien Zines seem to be more general about Tolkien's life, work, and worlds while Lord of the Rings Zines seems to be about Lord of the Rings specifically. As such Lord of the Rings Zines is a subcategory of Tolkien Zines and LOTR (Movies) Zines is a subcategory of Lord of the Rings Zines. --Doro 09:59, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
The "next 200" thing is confusing to those not familiar with wiki navigation. There are only 17 zines listed, which makes the cutoff at Hoom apparently inexplicable. I'm sure it has to do with the the images, now that I think about it, but still. Could there be another "next" link between the zines and the images listing? Mediawiki's default formatting is often confusing. --msilverstar 22:32, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
We have both Tolkien and Lord of the Rings zines categories because a lot of the zines either don't make clear what their focus is or aren't specifically about the Lord of the Rings, but some are only about LOTR. Originally, we set it up so that pre-Silmarillion Tolkien zines would be sorted under Lord of the Rings, but I'm not sure that reflects their content accurately: as Doro says, they could be about Tolkien himself, there's always the Hobbit, and what about fanfic based on the Appendices?? If there aren't enough LOTR-only zines that aren't about the films, we could delete the LOTR category.
On a related note, the name of the LOTR film category has been annoying me, but there's no way to rename categories--you have to delete the old name and create the new one.--æþel 17:18, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
I will leave it to you two then, because it's too complicated a distinction for me. --msilverstar 22:28, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
