Could someone please clarify what is supposed to go into this category? The fandom page, the fandom category, or both? --Doro 12:33, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- I understood it to be both, but I could be wrong! There's not much point in having only the fandom page in there. Aethel documented the category of Category:Fandoms by Canon Type as "Fandoms by Canon Type provides an alternate way to browse through the fandoms.". --Awils1 14:15, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- I think in the discussion post someone suggested to only add the fandom pages and Aethel agreed to that. That's not my preferred approach as I find the focus on the "fandom page" misleading because it suggests that the fandom page is more important than it actuall is and it excludes a visual approch to surfing a fandom (which the fandom categories do offer), but I don't feel strongly about it. I just don't think it's clear right now. --Doro 16:05, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I agreed to a proposal that we put only the fandom page and NOT the fandom category into the format categories. Whatever we do, we shouldn't have both category and page here. The problem with choosing to put fandom categories here (imho) is that some fandoms are too small to have a category, so we would end up with some categories, followed by some pages, and they couldn't be alphabetically sorted. However, this is my reasoning and not Kylara's. [1]--æþel 22:49, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, I understand that reasoning -- sorry to have been a hassle! Is there any reason you took Category:6 Degrees of Canada out of Category:Fandoms by Community? It's a community of fandoms, is it not? --Awils1 06:33, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- C6D is one of those edge cases, I think. I could go either way. It is one fandom with multiple sources, though some people are into only one or two of the sources as separate fandoms. If it counts as a Fandom by Community, wouldn't we have to include Monaboyd and SGA 6 degrees? Or maybe it's more like J-pop or Bandom? The "source" in the case of C6D is really "projects by Canadian actors who worked on Due South or worked with someone on multiple projects who worked on Due South".--æþel 11:09, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Most fandoms end up having a fandom category anyway (usually as soon as there is at least one picture) and then the cat is included instead of the page. --Doro 11:39, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- So it is decided that once a fandom has a category page, we remove the regular page from this category? -JadedPrism (talk) 03:48, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
