Cassian/Melshi is the pairing between Cassian Andor and Ruescott Melshi in the Rogue One and Andor fandoms.
Canon
Andor
Melshi is a prisoner in the same block as Cassian. The pair escape to land, where they split up in order to have a better chance at spreading word of what happened at the prison.
Rogue One
Melshi and Cassian do not come into direct contact in this movie. Melshi is a part of the Rebellion and helps liberate Jyn Erso from her prison transport; he also joins Rogue One on the mission to Scarif, and dies on screen.
Fandom
Fics for the pair focus on them developing a relationship while incarcerated, and what ifs about staying together instead of separating at the end of the One Way Out arc.
As of January 8th, 2024, they have 88 works on AO3. Before Andor's release, there were only 2. Over half of all fics available are rated mature or explicit.
Shipping Drama
There is some tension online between Melshian and RebelCaptain shippers. It's often centered around not liking Jyn as a romantic partner for Cassian.

So is the fandom gonna start calling Cassian and Melshi criminals now because they spent some time in Imperial custody? Or are we only using that label to diminish Jyn and reduce her entire story to being a petty selfish thief?
