Bruno is a fan favourite character within Encanto fandom, with many fans joking about their attachment to the "anxious little rat man". He is also a popular subject of /Reader fanworks.
Headcanons & Fanon
Many fans headcanon Bruno as gay and often as aro and ace, aided by his lack of an on-screen love interest or marital partner even though both of his sisters are married with children.
Many fandom headcanons revolve around Bruno's rat telenovelas, with fans imagining that Bruno's family members get overly invested in the ins and outs of the telenovela plots (particularly Dolores, who is canonically aware of Bruno living in the walls and must therefore be able to hear him acting out his telenovelas) or become involved in making them.
Another fan headcanon involves Bruno being the "golden child" of his generation before his visions gradually cause his reputation to change.
Bruno is a popular subject of whump, as he is canonically anxious and with a history of having been treated badly by those around him. His visions may well have been traumatic, as it is likely that he saw unpleasant events in the future, possibly as a young child, and had to deal with the emotional burden of knowing about them and imparting them to those involved. Many fans also headcanon that Bruno has involuntary visions that cause debilitating headaches if he tries to suppress them, or that they cause pain whenever they occur.
He's also sometimes headcanoned as having OCD, though there have been discussions had surrounding whether his actions are compulsions or are instead superstitous rituals relating to being Latino.[1]
