Moderator Misconduct

On November 12, 2021, the project's social media account reported that Silver, their finance moderator, engaged in unprofessional behavior, resulting in the jeopardy of this project along with multiple projects, including Thunderstruck, Underdogs, Creati's Craft Compendium, and Plain to Fame[21]. Customers were encouraged to request refunds and cancel their preorders. The project's social media account released a statement on Google Documents and an outline on Silver's behavior. The document included lengthy screenshots of multiple project's Discord servers.

While the project was undergoing its interest check, Seeress, the project's initial finance moderator, announced on Boom Brigade's Discord server that they could not continue serving on the project, citing health and personal reasons. Boom Brigade's moderator team would then bring in Silver, who had reached out to an open call for a new finance role. Months into planning if the project could support making a magnet calendar, Silver began to not respond to queries they were tagged in. Instead, they changed the subject when they were online or quibbled over whether or not other members of the mod team were excluding them. Following this, Silver failing to keep the mod team updated on their contact with a manufacturer.

Another incident included Silver misinforming a merch artist into changing a design for an charm. After another mod discovered a discrepancy about the changed design on the project server, investigation by other moderators revealed that Silver had decided on a new charm design without consulting the rest of the team and confirming the pricing. After much delay in response from Silver, the team discovered the new design of the charm was too costly to support and the merch artist had to return to their original design.

As the project approached its preorders phase, Silver had more unannounced absences and could not answer finance questions from the rest of the team. Despite their failure to maintain reliable connection with the rest of the mods, Silver affirmed that they would still work on the project. Silver also refused to provide finance logins, citing potential exposure of personal information. After preorders ended, the mod team struggled to confirm with Silver that merchandise was in production, despite the fact that Silver was certainly active online on Tumblr and Discord, both of which the other mod team members used to contact them. The mod team released the statement on November 12, 2021, after Silver would not respond to their calls to release the funds. The situation was resolved on November 13, 2021, when Silver agreed to transfer all zine funds to the other moderators[22].

The Google Documents statement also included accounts from other projects who faced a similar situation with this particular mod.
