Fandom
Milky
In 1999 Blur released their single "Coffee & TV" featuring a little sentient milk carton called Milky. Milky and its girlfriend, a strawberry milk carton, are fan favourites and are loved by people that aren't even into Blur. They often feature in fanmade merchandise and art. There are some photocopiable blueprints to make your own Milky.
Primrose Hill "And the view's so nice" graffiti
In 2000, an Australian Blur fan painted the line "and the view's so nice" from their song "For Tomorrow" on one of the paths in Primrose Hill, London. The graffiti quickly gained attention and became a popular attraction for Blur fans visiting the area.
The Primrose Hill location, known for its picturesque views of London, became a must-visit spot for Blur fans, who would admire the view and take pictures of the graffiti. Over the years, it became an iconic symbol and an integral part of the park's identity.
The local community in Primrose Hill and even the band members themselves developed a fondness for the graffiti. It became a cherished element of the park, with residents, regular park visitors such as joggers and dog walkers, and fans all expressing their appreciation for the lyric.
However, in 2012, as part of the preparations for the upcoming London Olympics, the graffiti was scrubbed off during a cleanup initiative. This decision saddened both the local community and Blur members, who felt a deep connection to the lyric. Damon Albarn, the lead vocalist of Blur, shared his personal sentiment, revealing that he had contemplated leaving the band but finding the graffiti during a walk had convinced him to stay. Dave Rowntree, the band's drummer, considered the graffiti to be a significant part of Blur's heritage and an integral symbol of Primrose Hill.
“That hill is a steep climb. Nearly everybody I know is out of breath at the top, so just when you’re about to give up from climbing to the top you see the words ‘and the view’s so nice’. "It’s really precious, because it makes you think, ‘OK, yes, let me do it, let me climb to the top to see the view.’”Trish Bertram
Despite several attempts by fans to restore the graffiti, none of the efforts were successful in maintaining a long-lasting recreation of the original one.
